The October 2025 Out of Zone ballot has now been drawn. All successful ballots drawn have been notified and parents have 14 days to accept their places. Any waitlisted students will be emailed if a space becomes available. 

This ballot was for students starting in 2026. 

 

Additional ballots may be conducted at any time if required, or a ballot may be cancelled if class numbers are full.

The Out Of Zone Ballot will be drawn again in 2026, however dates are to be confirmed once 2026 numbers are confirmed.

How to Apply:

  1. Print the relevant ballot application form from the links below. 
  2. Submit the completed form to the Ponsonby Primary Enrolments offi ce via email enrolments@ponsprim.school.nz, along with a copy of your child’s passport or NZ birth certificate. If your child does not hold a New Zealand or Australian passport, proof of the right to study in New Zealand must also be provided.
  3. The ballot will be conducted by a lawyer, and you will be notified of the results within five working days.
  4. For children new to school (turning 5), you should enter the closest ballot to their 5th birthday.

Priority Order for Ballot:

  1. First Priority: Applicants accepted into any special programme run by the school and approved by the Secretary for Education. (Note: We currently do not have any special programmes that qualify for this category.)
  2. Second Priority: Siblings of current students.
  3. Third Priority: Siblings of former students.
  4. Fourth Priority: Children of former students of the school.
  5. Fifth Priority: Children of employees at the school (working 2 days or more per week) or children of school board members.
  6. Sixth Priority: All other applicants.
